Doha, Nov 6: Iraq's Air Force club defeated Indian champions Bengaluru FC last night, November 5 at Doha, in the AFC Cup final to lift the coveted trophy. [BFC lose 0-1 to Air Force Club]
In the process, they became the first ever Iraqi side to win any AFC tournament. The triumph meant a lot for a country which has been war plagued for so many years.
The win comes as a gush of fresh air for the players the citizens of Iraq. Bengaluru FC, on the other hand, have to return empty handed after displaying a spirited performance against the Iraqis.
The Chhetris, the Lyngdohs, the Johnsons fought their heart out but a late goal spoiled their party. But the Indian club would return with their chins up as they have made a billion people proud with their epic performance.
