PHOTOS: UCL - Bayern Munich decimate Arsenal, Real Madrid thrash Napoli

Bayern Munich demolished Arsenal 5-1 at the Allianz arena to put one step forward into the last 8, while Real Madrid defeated Napoli 3-1 at home.

Bengaluru, Feb 16: Day 2 of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) round of 16 witnessed two very exciting matches. Bayern Munich annihilated Arsenal 5-1, while Real Madrid thrashed Napoli 3-1.

Bayern Munich destroyed Arsenal 5-1 at the Allianz Arena thanks to goals from Arjen Robben, Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller one each and Thiago Alcantara's brace.

Robben scored the opening goal of the match, in the 11th minute. The Dutch maestro dribbled past two defenders and attempted a swerving shot from the top right corner of the penalty box which went inside.

Alexis Sanchez restored from the penalty spot at the hour mark. The teams went into halftime with the scoreboard flashing 1-1.

Bayern Munich came back in the second half in a barbaric mood which was reflected on their performance. They pumped in 4 goals in the second half to seal the fate of the match.
