Bengaluru, August 7: After another long summer of rumours, Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has finally declared that for the time being, he will not move from the Bundesliga club, but remains open to a transfer in the future.
Aubameyang has been linked with big European clubs like Chelsea, AC Milan, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid since the start of this season and also earlier admitted that he admitted he was close to a big money transfer to China as he desired to move on.
However, according to the German club and his needs, no suitable offer came across and now he has finally decided to continue in the Bundesliga.
"No-one can say what the future holds," Aubameyang told Welt am Sonntag.
"It is true that I spoke to Borussia Dortmund before I went on vacation."
"I told them my thoughts, that I was maybe ready to try something different. The discussions with Michael Zorc and Hans-Joachim Watzke were open and fair."
"But none of the clubs that wanted me could make a transfer happen, so I will stay here at Borussia Dortmund. I like staying here very much. I feel at home in Dortmund."
Aubameyang also reinforced in the interview that he got a cash-rich proposal from China which reportedly could have made him the best-paid player in the world, however, he turned it down.
"Of course, China was an option. It is only natural that I thought about it when they offered that much money. I know many people said I couldn't go to China because it would be a step backwards in football terms, but I think anyone would at least consider such an offer."
"I received an offer, but I think the Chinese struggled to make an offer to BVB. I don't think the structures are yet as professional as in Europe."
The Gabon striker enjoyed one of the best seasons in his career last season as he fired 31 goals in 32 Bundesliga appearances to become the league's top scorer. He also made his club win their first silverware in the last five years when they won DFB Pokal.
He also scored the first goal of Dortmund's this season's opening fixture against Bayern Munich in the DFB Super Cup final where they lost 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out after it finished 2-2 over 90 minutes.
