Berlin, Dec 19: Borussia Dortmund's prolific Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has announced his contract extension with the club until 2021 with a sly dig pointing at German media.

The 28-year-old had been under contract at Dortmund until 2020, however, has been linked with a move away from the Westfalenstadion by some German media to clubs like AC Milan, Liverpool and Everton.

However, the last season's Bundesliga top scorer has dismissed all the rumours in an astute fashion taking the opportunity to point out the rumours of false media reports of him leaving the club this season and suggested he agreed to the one-year extension clause inserted in his the current deal which will reportedly give him a pay rise.

He said in a social media post: “Let me listen to music!! Better than the newspapers. It’s a bit of time since I extended my contract. But it’s not your mistake, you didn’t know as much.”

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc also confirmed the news and hinted that although at some point the player would leave, however, the time is not now.

"The contract runs through to '21," Zorc told Sky on Sunday. "That's still a long way away.

"One day, he will certainly leave Borussia Dortmund -- he won't end his career here. He's an extremely important player for us, and we continue to plan with him."

Aubameyang has been scoring in the same style as of last season and was also on target again in Dortmund's 2-1 win over Hoffenheim last weekend. He has scored 13 goals this season and a total of 98 in the Bundesliga since landing from St Etienne in 2013.

He right now is fifth in the club's all Bundesliga scorer list and his count of 141 goals in all rivalries is just bettered by two players, Zorc who netted 159 and Manfred Burgsmuller, who got 158 for Dortmund.
