Anwar Ali, born on 28 August 2000, is a professional Defender from India. Wearing jersey number 4, and has been an important part of the squad with his consistent performances. He has consistently contributed with strong performances throughout his career.
Hailing from Punjab, Anwar Ali spent his formative years at the Minerva Punjab academy and was a part of India''s U17 squad for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017. After playing for Indian Arrows in Hero I-League 2017-18, he was signed up by Mumbai City FC but was immediately sent back on loan for another stint at Arrows. He was also part of the India U-20 squad which registered a historic win over the Argentina U20 team in the Cortif Cup back in 2018 and even scored the second goal in the 2-1 win. Regarded as one of the most promising defensive prospects in the country, Ali has also been part of India national team under head coach Igor Stimac in the recent past. Ali was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, due to which he was forced to not play football. But, he has now been given the green light to play and on January 4 2022, he joined FC Goa and has become an integral part of their team.
