Pogba Says Manchester United Can Win The Premier League Within The Next Three Years Under Carrick
Paul Pogba expects Manchester United to capture the Premier League title under Michael Carrick within three years, backing recent progress at Old Trafford. Pogba pointed to Carrick’s impact during the second half of the 2025-26 season, as Manchester United surged up the table and secured a Champions League place after a difficult start.
Manchester United’s transformation followed Carrick’s promotion in January, when Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim after early domestic exits and no European football. Under the new head coach, Manchester United climbed to third in the Premier League and guaranteed a return to the Champions League, ending concerns about missing out for a second straight campaign.

Carrick delivered strong numbers in league play, winning 12 of 17 Premier League matches, drawing three and losing two. That record produced a 70.6% win rate. From Carrick’s first fixture, a 2-1 Manchester derby victory on 17 January, no Premier League team collected more wins, with 12, or more points, with 39.
| Manager | Season | Games | Wins | Draws | Losses | Points per game |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Michael Carrick | 2025-26 | 17 | 12 | 3 | 2 | 2.29 |
| Alex Ferguson | 2012-13 | 38 | - | - | - | 2.34 |
Carrick’s return of 2.29 points per game was the best figure among all Premier League managers in 2025-26. It also represented Manchester United’s highest league points average across a full or partial season since Alex Ferguson’s final title-winning campaign in 2012-13, when Manchester United recorded 2.34 points per match.
Earlier in 2025-26, Manchester United’s prospects looked bleak after defeats in the opening ties of both the EFL Cup and FA Cup, plus the absence of European competition following the Europa League final loss. Carrick was confirmed as permanent head coach last month, and Pogba believes that decision can end Manchester United’s 13-year wait for a Premier League crown.
Pogba underlined Carrick’s influence by recalling past experiences. "I played with him. I also had him as a coach, Pogba told talkSPORT of Carrick." Pogba highlighted how Manchester United’s structure and confidence shifted under Carrick, and suggested that improvement can carry through future Premier League seasons if the current core remains together.
Pogba described the scale of Manchester United’s shift under the head coach. "When he came here, the team changed totally, and it's going to be a big test for them next season. I think Manchester United will win in the next few years. They're gonna be champions of the Premier League. If Arsenal can be champions, Manchester United will definitely be champions. It's a big statement but I believe they will."
Asked about the timescale for a Premier League title under Carrick, Pogba made a clear prediction. "Yes, I believe so. I probably say next three years, next three years, in my opinion. Yeah, I think they can make it in the next three years." Pogba’s comments reflect growing optimism that Manchester United’s 2025-26 resurgence can develop into a sustained Premier League challenge.
