Portugal vs France Team News, Injury Updates
The Portuguese attack was below average in the last match against Slovenia and as a result, they were dragged into a penalty shootout where the Selecao were rescued by the individual brilliance of the keeper, Diogo Costa. As of now, the Selecao defence consists of Ruben Dias, Joao Cancelo, Nuno Mendes and the veteran Pepe. It will be a challenge for Pepe to stop the likes of Mbappe and Griezmann after playing 120 minutes just four days back.
In the midfield, the two playmakers from the two rival sides of Manchester, Silva and Fernandez are in good form and have scored one goal each. It will be the perfect time for Cristiano Ronaldo to step up as the Selecao are goalless for the last two Euro matches. The return of Rafael Leao will bolster the Portuguese attack and can be a key to breaking their goal drought.
On the other hand, France after a lacklustre display in the group stage, continued the same in the Round-of-16. The Les Blues are yet to score in this Euro through open play. Their two goals came from deflection and one from a penalty. These stats certainly will be a concern for Didier Deschamps.
French defence, on the other hand, consists of Kounde, Saliba, Upamecano and Hernandez are in good form. Kounde and Saliba were excellent in the last match against Belgium. Adrien Rabiot will miss the match due to suspension after picking up his second yellow. Either Youssouf Fofana and Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga can take his spot. Griezmann is also expected to return to the playing XI against Portugal.
