Postecoglou Focuses On Spoiling Liverpool's Title Party Rather Than Europa League Concerns

Ange Postecoglou is determined for Tottenham to challenge Liverpool in their upcoming match, prioritising performance over Europa League preparations. Despite Spurs' struggles this season, he aims to frustrate his childhood club and compete effectively.

Ange Postecoglou is focused on Tottenham's upcoming clash with Liverpool, aiming to disrupt their potential Premier League title celebrations. Despite Spurs' disappointing season, currently sitting 16th in the league, Postecoglou remains committed to performing well at Anfield. His focus is not on resting players for the Europa League semi-finals but on challenging Liverpool effectively.

Postecoglou has no intention of letting his childhood support for Liverpool influence Sunday's game. "No, mate. I'm an almost 60-year-old adult, I've gone past my boyhood crushes, so it's got no impact whatsoever," he stated. He aims to compete strongly against a formidable team like Liverpool.

Postecoglou Aims to Disrupt Liverpool's Title Hopes

Tottenham will be without captain Son Heung-min for the match against Liverpool due to a foot injury that has sidelined him for the last three games. However, Postecoglou expects Son to recover in time for Thursday's Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt.

"Squad wise, there's no change," Postecoglou mentioned regarding team injuries. "In terms of rehab, Sonny's the only one who is going through that process. He's improving, but he's not ready for Sunday." This indicates that while some players may need more game time, others might require less exposure.

Despite speculation about his future with Tottenham, Postecoglou's immediate concern is the match against Liverpool. Spurs are set to face Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-final first leg shortly after their visit to Anfield. The manager emphasises the importance of performing well against top teams regardless of upcoming fixtures.

Postecoglou acknowledges his admiration for Liverpool but insists it won't affect his approach. "I have great admiration for the football club. Yes, I supported it when I was younger, but that was 50-odd years ago," he explained. His focus remains on competing effectively against a strong opponent.

The outcome of these matches could influence Postecoglou's future at Tottenham. While European success might extend his tenure, his primary goal is ensuring Spurs perform admirably in each game they play.
