Ange Postecoglou expressed his delight after Tottenham's 3-0 triumph over Elfsborg, highlighting the contributions of young talents Dane Scarlett, Damola Ajayi, and Mikey Moore. This victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium secured their place in the Europa League's last 16. All three goals were scored in the final 20 minutes, showcasing the potential of Tottenham's youth amid an ongoing injury crisis.
Postecoglou praised the young players for stepping up when needed. "It was made in Tottenham tonight," he told TNT Sports. "I'm super pleased for the young boys, and we also shouldn't lose sight of the fact that we had a couple more teenagers out there too. I'm sure those three lads won't sleep tonight." He emphasised their control over the game and how they capitalised on Elfsborg's defensive lapse.

Scarlett, Ajayi, and Moore all scored their first goals for Spurs, marking a historic moment as Tottenham became the first English club since Arsenal in 2007 to have three under-21 scorers in a major European match. On that occasion, Theo Walcott, Nicklas Bendtner, and Cesc Fabregas found the net for Arsenal against Slavia Prague.
Mikey Moore set a new record by becoming the youngest English player to score in a major European competition at 17 years and 172 days old. This achievement surpassed Jimmy Greaves' record from 1957 when he scored for London XI at 17 years and 245 days against Lausanne-Sport.
Postecoglou made strategic half-time substitutions to manage player workload ahead of upcoming fixtures. Micky van de Ven, Son Heung-min, and Richarlison were taken off to protect key players. However, Radu Dragusin suffered an injury shortly after entering the field, raising concerns about his knee.
"We've got another big week coming up so the changes at half-time were about managing the load," Postecoglou explained. "We still picked up an injury with Radu, which is not great. It is too early to say what it is; we will need to investigate further. But it was his knee, which is not good."
Reports indicate that Tottenham are pursuing Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel with a £50 million offer as the January transfer window nears its end. Postecoglou confirmed efforts are underway to strengthen the squad before their next match on Sunday.
"The club will be working hard behind the scenes to see if we can get something done," Postecoglou stated regarding potential reinforcements.
The performance against Elfsborg highlighted Tottenham's promising future with young talent making significant contributions on a European stage while navigating challenges posed by injuries.
