Ange Postecoglou Dismisses Speculation Surrounding Marcus Rashford And Manchester United

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has stated he is not interested in the speculation surrounding Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United. Ahead of their EFL Cup tie, he emphasised his focus on improving Spurs' performance rather than external noise.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou expressed disinterest in the speculation about Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester United. This comes ahead of their EFL Cup match on Thursday. Postecoglou is focused on ending Spurs' trophy drought, which dates back to their 2008 victory in the same competition. Despite the buzz around Rashford, who missed United's recent win over Manchester City, Postecoglou remains focused on his team.

Postecoglou has emphasised his intention to bolster Tottenham's attacking prowess. Despite being second only to Chelsea in Premier League goals this season, he aims for further improvement. When asked about Rashford, Postecoglou remarked, "There's always noise about Manchester United, come on mate. Where have you been? No interest. Don't care. Not interested." He stressed that his focus is solely on managing his own players.

Postecoglou Unconcerned by Rashford Speculation

Spurs enter the match against Manchester United following a commanding 5-0 win over Southampton last Sunday. They achieved a club record by scoring five goals in the first half of a Premier League game for the first time. Their eight shots on target in the opening 45 minutes matched their highest since 2003-04. This performance boosts their confidence as they aim for the EFL Cup semi-finals.

Tottenham's recent history in the EFL Cup is promising. They've advanced from their last four quarter-final appearances (2014-15, 2018-19, 2020-21, 2021-22) since losing to West Ham in 2013-14. Additionally, they remain unbeaten in their last four Premier League encounters with United (two wins and two draws), including a 3-0 victory this season.

Despite past successes against Manchester United, Spurs haven't won consecutive matches against them since April 1990 when they secured three straight victories. Postecoglou acknowledged there's still much work to be done after being reminded of his earlier comments about winning trophies in his second season at clubs.

"I haven't reiterated it many times," Postecoglou explained regarding his trophy ambitions. "If you ask me a question, I will answer it." He clarified that reaching the quarter-finals doesn't mean they're close to winning a trophy yet; getting to a final would bring them closer.

As Tottenham prepares for Thursday's match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Postecoglou remains committed to building discipline within the team and focusing on their objectives rather than external distractions like Rashford's situation at Manchester United.
