Postecoglou Commends Solanke's Strong Mentality Following Europa League Goal Against Bodo/Glimt

Ange Postecoglou praised Dominic Solanke's mentality after he scored a penalty in Tottenham's Europa League win over Bodo/Glimt. Despite an injury and a late goal conceded, both manager and player remain optimistic for the second leg.

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, commended Dominic Solanke's mindset after his crucial penalty in their 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-final first leg. Solanke's goal extended Spurs' lead to 3-0 before he left the field due to an injury. A late goal by the visitors kept their hopes alive for the second leg in Norway.

Postecoglou highlighted Solanke's focus and dedication, stating, "He has got a really strong mindset. He is a quiet guy but has a real clear focus." The manager appreciated Solanke's hard work and was pleased with his goal as a reward for his efforts. He expressed concern about Solanke's injury but hoped it was not severe.

Postecoglou Praises Solanke's Strong Mindset

Despite Ulrik Saltnes scoring for Bodo/Glimt in the 83rd minute, reducing the deficit to two goals, Postecoglou remained positive about Spurs' performance. He noted that although they didn't create many chances, he was satisfied with how the team played. Reflecting on past matches, he believed that if they maintained this level of play in Norway, they would achieve the desired result.

Solanke shared his thoughts on the match, expressing satisfaction with both his performance and scoring in such an important game. "Pleased with the performance. We know they are a good team at home," he said. He acknowledged that conceding a late goal wasn't ideal but remained confident about their chances in the upcoming match.

The match marked only the second time since December 1971 that Tottenham scored in the opening minute of a major European competition. This historical feat added to the excitement surrounding their current campaign. As they prepare for the second leg, maintaining focus and concentration will be crucial for securing their place in the final.

Solanke emphasised that despite conceding late, their strategy remains unchanged: perform well and secure victory in Norway. The team aims to build on their lead while ensuring defensive solidity to advance further in the competition.
