Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has expressed doubts about whether Liverpool's Mohamed Salah would thrive in his current squad. Spurs are set to face Liverpool in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final in north London on Wednesday. Tottenham have not secured a win in their last four Premier League games, including a 6-3 loss to Liverpool, where Salah netted twice.
Spurs' recent form has been hampered by injuries, leaving them 12th in the league standings. They are closer to the relegation zone than the top four, trailing by eight points and twelve points respectively. The team is dealing with a lengthy injury list, including key players like Guglielmo Vicario and Ben Davies. Additionally, James Maddison and Pape Sarr will miss Wednesday's match due to suspensions.

Postecoglou highlighted that Salah is a "world-class player," but he questioned if Salah could maintain his performance level at Spurs given their current struggles. He emphasised that successful attacking play requires a cohesive defence and a team creating opportunities, which Tottenham currently lacks.
Liverpool have had an impressive season so far, losing only once in 28 matches across all competitions. Their strong form contrasts sharply with Tottenham's challenges. The last time Spurs defeated Liverpool in this competition was back in 2008 when they won the trophy against Chelsea under Juande Ramos.
The second leg of the semi-final is scheduled for February 6 at Anfield. Meanwhile, Newcastle United secured a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the other semi-final match on Tuesday, with goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon at Emirates Stadium.
As Spurs prepare for their upcoming clash against Liverpool, they face significant challenges both on and off the pitch. With key players sidelined and recent performances lacking consistency, Postecoglou's side will need to find resilience to compete effectively against one of England's top teams this season.
