Postecoglou Reflects On Spurs Future Amid Europa League Triumph And Speculation

Following Tottenham Hotspur's Europa League victory, Ange Postecoglou expressed uncertainty about his future at the club while celebrating the achievement. He aims to focus on the upcoming matches and enjoy time with family.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou expressed his lack of awareness about any discussions concerning his future at the club following their Europa League victory. Spurs secured their first trophy in 17 years by defeating Manchester United 1-0 in Bilbao, thanks to Brennan Johnson's decisive goal in the 42nd minute. This win marked Tottenham's third UEFA Cup/Europa League title, with only Sevilla having more victories.

Despite a challenging season, Postecoglou's team is positioned 17th in the Premier League as they prepare for their final match against Brighton this Sunday. Speculation about Postecoglou's future has been ongoing throughout the season. However, he remains calm and focused on celebrating their European success. "No planned meetings. I haven't had any discussions," Postecoglou stated. "No one has spoken to me about anything."

Postecoglou's Future at Spurs Uncertain

Postecoglou emphasised his commitment to the team, expressing a desire to continue working with them. The Europa League final marked his 100th game leading Spurs across all competitions. Although he has two years left on his contract, it is uncertain if he will remain for the 2025-26 season. "I'd be disappointed if I couldn't continue on this path," he remarked.

The Australian manager highlighted his track record of success, noting that he has consistently won trophies throughout his career at clubs like Celtic, Yokohama F. Marinos, Australia, and Brisbane Roar. He acknowledged that some might dismiss his achievements because they occurred outside Europe but insisted they were hard-earned.

By winning the Europa League, Tottenham secured a spot in next season's Champions League and an estimated financial boost of around £100 million. This victory also fulfilled Postecoglou's promise of winning a trophy in his second season with the club, a goal he set earlier in the campaign.

Postecoglou plans to celebrate by spending time with family and friends before preparing for a parade on Friday and facing Brighton on Sunday. He aims to finish the season strongly before taking a well-deserved holiday with his family.

The manager reflected on his journey with Spurs, recalling how chairman Daniel Levy mentioned pursuing winners before hiring him. "Mate, I'm a winner," Postecoglou asserted confidently. His focus remains on achieving success through hard work and dedication.
