Graham Potter Expresses Confidence In West Ham's Revival Ahead Of Everton Clash

Graham Potter is optimistic about revitalising West Ham United despite recent defeats. As they prepare to face Everton, he emphasises the need for improvement and stability in their performance.

Graham Potter remains optimistic about improving West Ham United's fortunes despite a recent 2-1 loss to Newcastle United, marking their third defeat in four Premier League matches. Bruno Guimaraes' goal secured the win for Newcastle, who are set to face Liverpool in the EFL Cup final. West Ham currently sits 16th in the league and will play against Everton next.

Potter has managed only three victories in nine games across all competitions since taking charge at West Ham. Despite this, he believes there is potential to create something significant at the London Stadium. "It ebbed and flowed a bit. We had a good start, and they came back into it," Potter commented after the match. "We didn't do enough to win the game, but we could have got something out of it."

Potter Confident in West Ham's Future Against Everton

Everton, under David Moyes, have shown improvement but were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolves in their last match. They are now ahead of West Ham on goal difference and have widened the gap from the relegation zone by 16 points. Moyes remains cautious, stating his team isn't safe yet and must continue their upward trajectory to secure their top-flight status.

"I think we're in a really good position," Moyes said. "When you think of when we started and where we were... I don't think we're safe yet because the numbers don't allow us to say that." He added that it's becoming harder for teams below them to catch up.

Jack Harrison of Everton scored his first Premier League goal in 36 games recently and aims to maintain his form against West Ham. Harrison has been involved in more goals against West Ham than any other team, with three goals and two assists.

For West Ham, Mohammed Kudus stands out despite a challenging season for the team. Kudus has attempted more dribbles than any other player this season (142) but has also been dispossessed most frequently (70 times). His performance will be crucial for West Ham's chances of success.

Match Prediction: Everton Win

Everton are unbeaten in their last eight Premier League games (four wins, four draws), marking their longest streak since early 2017 under Ronald Koeman. However, they have struggled to score more than once in their last ten meetings with West Ham, with only six goals scored during this period.

The reverse fixture ended 0-0 in November. Everton have drawn more games this season than any other team (12), including their last three consecutively. The Toffees last drew four league games in succession in September 2022.

Moyes has never won against Potter in seven Premier League encounters (five draws, two losses). He has faced Pep Guardiola more often without winning (13 times). Meanwhile, West Ham's main issue under Potter has been scoring; they've failed to find the net in 37.5% of their league matches compared to 20% under Julen Lopetegui.

West Ham's away form shows all four wins this season were achieved without conceding a goal. They haven't won any of their last 12 away games when conceding at least once since April 2024 against Wolves.

The Opta win probability suggests Everton have a 46.4% chance of winning, while both a draw and a West Ham victory stand at 26.8%.
