Bengaluru, February 28: Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho will miss his first Premier League game this season, the Premier League tie against Arsenal, as the Brazilian defensive midfielder has suffered an injury during Man City's League Cup victory against Arsenal.

Fernandinho started City's EFL Cup final match against Arsenal, which they eventually won 3-0, but the 32-year-old had to be off injured in the 52nd minute.

Now, City's medical team has informed that the player won't be available to compete against Arsenal on Thursday (March 1) and released a statement on their official website, which said scans showed the issue was a hamstring strain.

"Scans have shown Fernandinho suffered a hamstring strain during the Cup victory over Arsenal," City said in a statement.
"The Brazilian was withdrawn after 52 minutes of City's Wembley win, but thankfully the initial prognosis suggests the problem isn't serious.
"No timescale has yet been set for his return but the Premier League game against the Gunners on Thursday will come too soon.

The 32-year-old has featured in all 27 of Manchester City’s league fixtures, starting all but one of them. He has also appeared in all the matches in other competitions too - FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Champions League, which takes his tally to 39 matches so far this season.
