Todd Boehly has spent over a billion pounds since taking over at Chelsea from Roman Abramovich. And despite such strong financial backing, the Champions League winners in 2021 are in all kinds of trouble.
They have been through several managerial changes but none of them have managed to find the formula to make things work for the Blues. Mauricio Pochettino is currently in charge of the club but have been utterly inconsistent under him just as was the case with their previous managers.

Chelsea remain in the bottom half of the table and are looking a million miles away from reaching the zenith of English and European football once again. The key reason behind this is their poor recruitment policy which has seen the club lose over a billion pounds but not being able to sign the right players. Here, we will take a look at the three worst signings made by Chelsea in the Todd Boehly era.
Mykhalio Mudryk: Mudryk was regarded as one of the hottest talents in Europe and was chased by a host of clubs across the continent. However, it was Chelsea who managed to land the Ukrainian starlet for a massive fee of 89 million pounds with add-ons.
The fleet-footed winger has never quite kicked on at the West London club and has scored just four times and provided five assists in 42 games. Not only his end product has been subpar, but Mudryk has also struggled to make much impact when he has been on the pitch. If the Ukraine international cannot improve soon, he could go down in the history books as one of the biggest flops of all time.
Moises Caicedo: Chelsea snapped up Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer in a British record deal worth 115 million pounds. The Ecuador international was regarded as one of the finest young players before he joined the Blues but he has not been able to make much impact at Stamford Bridge yet.
Not only Caicedo has struggled in possession, but he has also made several costly mistakes leading to opponents’ chances. Caicedo can still recover from his early disappointment at Chelsea and has time on his side but for the fee he commanded, he was expected to make an immediate impact which he has failed to make.
Benoit Badiashile: Chelsea snapped up the signing of Beniot Badiashile from AS Monaco for quite a handsome fee of 33 million pounds. However, the highly regarded Frenchman has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge so far.
The defender has been the subject of heavy criticism for his sloppy displays and tendency to make a mistake. With the riches of talent Chelsea have at their disposal at the back, Badiashile never quite looked like a signing they needed and he looks far from first-team level as well.
