Preston North End have announced the departure of manager Ryan Lowe. The Championship club confirmed on Monday that the 45-year-old has left by mutual consent after just one game of the 2024-25 season. Preston suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Sheffield United on the opening day, resulting in fans booing Lowe off the pitch.
Lowe had been in charge for two and a half years, overseeing 125 matches during his tenure. Under his management, Preston achieved 13th, 12th, and 10th-place finishes in the league. His overall win percentage stood at 38%. Despite these efforts, the recent loss seemed to be a tipping point for both parties.

In an official statement, Preston North End expressed gratitude towards Lowe: "We can confirm that manager Ryan Lowe has left the club by mutual consent. We'd like to thank Ryan for his hard work and wish him all the very best for the future."
Lowe shared his thoughts on leaving through Preston’s website: "Now is the right time for the club to go in a different direction," he said. "I've always stressed since I walked through the door that if I can't take the club any further, I'd leave it to someone else and that's what I'm doing."
He added, "I'm leaving the club in a good place with a fantastic squad, and I just wish the football club and everyone associated with it all the best in the future."
The decision marks a significant change for Preston North End as they look to move forward with new leadership. The club will now focus on finding a suitable replacement who can build on Lowe's foundation and aim for higher achievements in upcoming seasons.
