Paris Saint-Germain's Marquinhos believes that past experiences and setbacks have been crucial in their journey to this season's Champions League final. PSG secured their spot in the final after defeating Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals. This marks their return to Europe's top club competition final, five years after losing to Bayern Munich in Lisbon.
Under Luis Enrique, PSG will face Inter in what will be their fourth major European final. They previously appeared in the 1996 and 1997 Cup Winners' Cup finals and the 2020 Champions League final. Marquinhos was part of Thomas Tuchel's squad that narrowly missed out on victory at Estadio do Luz in 2020. He is determined to finally lift the trophy this time around.

The defender emphasises that both past experiences and last year's defeat by Borussia Dortmund have contributed significantly to the team's growth. These lessons are expected to aid them as they aim for a title that has long eluded them.
Marquinhos shared with Canal+ that their approach has been methodical, aiming to progress step by step. "We started the competition with the ambition of going far. We're in the final. I've already lost a final. I know how painful it is," he said. He aims to share his experiences with teammates, maintaining consistent efforts to build strength and confidence.
The coach has played a pivotal role by gradually implementing changes and instilling a new mindset within the team. This transformation didn't happen overnight but was achieved through persistent effort.
The team faced challenges against formidable opponents like Manchester City and Liverpool, which helped boost their confidence. Marquinhos noted, "Experience and scars make you grow." He often discusses these experiences with younger players, emphasising hard work and developing a winning mentality.
Last year, despite creating opportunities, PSG struggled to convert them into victories. However, this season's results indicate they are on the right path towards success.
As PSG prepares for another shot at European glory, they carry with them valuable lessons from past disappointments and triumphs alike.
