Bengaluru, March 2: Real Madrid’s indecisive attitude on settling on a primary goalkeeper could cost them both their targets this summer. While long-time target David de Gea is close to signing a bumper new deal with Manchester United, Chelsea No 1 Thibaut Courtois could move to Ligue 1 giants Paris-Saint Germain.
According to reports, the Ligue 1 leaders' sporting director, Antero Henrique, has made signing a new goalkeeper a priority for the next season and Courtois looks perfect for the role. PSG had informal talks with Courtois’ father as the Belgian is yet to sign a new contract with Chelsea. However, no formal interest has been shown by PSG.
The source said that Courtois has indicated he is not against the idea of signing for PSG, but both sides made it clear during their meeting that there are certain factors that could influence a potential transfer.
Earlier this year, in an interview with Belgian magazine Sport, the former Atletico shot stopper said that his heart is still in Madrid.
“If Real is really interested, my personal situation could affect, yes. The family aspect, it is priceless. But I repeat to you that, for the moment, I'm busy talking to Chelsea to extend (my deal).”
The source said that interest from the Madrid clubs complicates matter as PSG are interested in Atletico's Jan Oblak and Real's Keylor Navas. A move for one of them, notably Oblak, could open the door for Courtois to move back to Spain.
