PSG Hungry For More Glory After Back-To-Back Champions League Triumphs

Paris Saint-Germain kept the Champions League trophy after a penalty shoot-out win over Arsenal, and Desire Doue stressed that the French champions still want more titles. PSG edged the final 4-3 on spot-kicks after a 1-1 draw at the Puskas Arena, sealing a second straight European crown.

The victory also continued Luis Enrique’s perfect record in the competition’s showpiece. The head coach has now guided teams to three Champions League finals and has triumphed in all of them, with defender Illia Zabarnyi praising Luis Enrique’s influence after coming on during the second half.

PSG Hunger for More Glory

Arsenal struck first in the final as Kai Havertz scored an early goal, putting Mikel Arteta’s side in front and raising hopes of a maiden crown. PSG forced extra time when Ousmane Dembele converted a penalty, and after 120 tense minutes the contest moved to a decisive shoot-out.

PSG held their nerve from the spot, converting four of their penalties while Arsenal missed twice, which confirmed a 4-3 shoot-out success for the Ligue 1 side. The French champions therefore retained the Champions League title, with the London club falling just short despite a strong performance across the campaign.

The success means PSG became only the second club this century to defend the Champions League, following Real Madrid’s streak. It also arrives one year after PSG overpowered Inter 5-0 in the 2025 final, where Desire Doue delivered a standout display in a dominant team performance.

At 20 years old, Desire Doue again played a key part on the biggest stage. The midfielder stepped up during the shoot-out and calmly struck a precise penalty, helping settle a tight final. Speaking after the match to TNT Sports, Desire Doue described the emotional impact of the achievement.

"We are so, so proud. So happy, so grateful, because it was a tough game against a very good team, so we have to congratulate [Arsenal] because they had a really good season," he told TNT Sports.

"But we have to celebrate as a team, as a familywe deserve it. Look at the crowd, our family. I want to say thank you. I had a prayer, to win the Champions League again, and Im so happy."

Desire Doue also underlined that PSG will not relax after this title, stressing the squad’s approach for future campaigns. "We have to stay humble also. It'scrazy, but we're going to work more, we are a hungry team and we know we have ambitionsnext season, we have to go again."

Illia Zabarnyi echoed that view when discussing Luis Enrique’s role in the PSG Champions League run, highlighting the strong bond between squad and coach. "Luis Enrique is a magic man, he fights for us, we fight for him," said Illia Zabarnyi, who came on as a second-half substitute. It's unbelievable.

The back-to-back Champions League wins underline PSG’s current strength in Europe, yet the comments from Desire Doue and Illia Zabarnyi show a focus on further progress. With Luis Enrique unbeaten in three finals, the club now targets more success while aiming to keep discipline and humility within the squad.
