Paris Saint-Germain faced a tough challenge against Arsenal, according to Luis Enrique. The French team, adjusting after Kylian Mbappe's move to Real Madrid, experienced their first loss of the season. Arsenal took control with goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka before halftime. Despite hitting the woodwork twice, PSG managed only 0.36 expected goals (xG) throughout the match.
Luis Enrique left Ousmane Dembele out for disciplinary reasons and acknowledged his responsibility for the defeat. He expressed uncertainty about PSG's ability to compete with Europe's elite teams. "Today we were far away from the standards you need in this kind of match. Arsenal were much better in terms of pressure, intensity, they won every duel," he told reporters.

Enrique highlighted the team's inability to win duels as a significant issue. "It's impossible to play for a positive result when you don't win any of your duels on the pitch," he stated. He noted that Arsenal's defenders anticipated PSG's attackers well, while PSG's defenders struggled against Arsenal's forwards.
He also mentioned that this was PSG's first encounter with a high-level opponent this season. "We knew from the first minute they would press us high and they did it aggressively and we couldn't cope with that pressure," Enrique explained.
Reflecting on his tenure compared to Mikel Arteta's at Arsenal, Enrique said, "Mikel [Arteta] has been [at Arsenal] for five years, I've been at Paris for one year and two months." He admitted uncertainty about PSG's current standing but has a vision for where he wants the team to be.
Since their victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in December 2020, PSG have lost all four of their away Champions League matches in England. These defeats include two losses to Manchester City and one each to Newcastle United and Arsenal.
The journey ahead for Paris Saint-Germain under Luis Enrique seems challenging as they aim to rebuild and compete at the highest level in European football once again.
