PSG star Javier Pastore rejects Liverpool

Bengaluru, January 29: Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore has rejected a move to Liverpool, according to reports in Italy.

The 28-year-old Pastore has fallen down the pecking order at PSG with a possible Premier League escape route on the cards this month.

The Argentine international was earmarked by Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to boost the Merseysider’s fight for a top four spot.

However, Pastore has set his heart on return to Italy with AC Milan and Inter fighting for his signature, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

And Pastore’s agent is said to be in Milan this week as he looks to thrash out a deal before deadline day.

Inter are keen to take Pastore on loan with a view to a permanent switch after they allowed Joao Mario to move to West Ham.

The Argentine superstar joined the moneybags French outfit from Palermo in 2011 and is already a legend of the club playing a key role in their rise over the years.

However, Pastore has struggled to make an impact this season with 18 appearances in all competitions and starting just eight Ligue 1 matches.

However, earlier this month PSG boss Unai Emery insisted he still has a part to play at the Parc des Princes this season.

Emery said: “I’ve talked a lot with him.

“When he’s good he is an important player, when he maintains his consistency, when he trains and plays well.

“He didn’t tell me he wanted to leave, I hope he’ll train with us and that he’ll be ready to play.”
