Punjab FC have announced the appointment of Giuseppe Cristaldi as the new Technical Director for their Youth Programme, as the club announced on Monday (September 23).
The Italian will oversee a youth setup that has achieved significant success in the past season, including victories in the RFDL National Championship and the Dream Sports Championship. Punjab FC is notably the only Indian Super League team to qualify for the National Championship of AIFF Youth Leagues across all categories.

With over 15 years of experience, Cristaldi brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. He has previously worked with youth teams at clubs such as Empoli FC in Italy, Hibernians FC in Scotland, and Gzira United FC in Malta. His most recent position was as Technical Director at Lithuanian club Utenis. Cristaldi holds a UEFA PRO Licence and completed his PRO Diploma at Escuela Menotti School in Argentina.
Cristaldi's educational background includes a degree in Sports Management from the University of Teramo and studies in Sports Laws at LUISS University in Rome. These qualifications complement his extensive practical experience, making him well-suited to lead Punjab FC's youth initiatives. His role will involve creating a cohesive technical framework for the club's academy and development centres.
Speaking on the appointment, Football Director, Punjab FC, Nikolaos Topoliatis said, "Guiseppe is an experienced professional who will help us transform the youth program here at Punjab FC. We have a strong youth setup at the club and with Giuseppe's appointment I am sure that the academy will grow leaps and bounds and we will be able to produce more talented players from the academy for our first team which is our ultimate goal. I wish him the best at Punjab FC."
Cristaldi takes over from Ed Engelkes, who served as Technical Director from December 2021 until July 2024.
