Punjab FC ISL 2023-24 schedule: PFC to make their Indian Super League debut on September 23

ISL 2023-24 season will begin on September 21 while Punjab FC will become the first I-League side to be promoted to the Indian Super League. The Chandigarh-based club will play all their home matches at the Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi to fulfill ICLS Premier 1 Licensing requirements.

This is also the first time since 2019 that Indian Super League matches will be played at the JLN Stadium since Delhi Dynamos moved to Bhubaneswar and were rebranded as Odisha FC. Punjab FC's debut ISL match will also be at home against defending champions Mohun Bagan Super Giants on September 30.

Punjab FC, who won the I-League last season by a margin of 10 points, underwent several squad changes, which saw India international Amarjit Singh Kiyam move from FC Goa in a major move while roping in Colombian striker Wilmar Jordan Gil and French Moroccan midfielder Madih Talal.

Punjab FC retained their second-division winning-coach Staikos Vergetis, let go some of their key players in Shankar Sampingiraj, Samuel Lalmuanpui and Aleksandar Ignjatovic. However, last season top-scorer Luka Majcen, along with midfield star Juan Mera were crucially retained.
