Punjab FC kicked off their campaign with a 2-0 victory over the CISF Protectors, with Slovenian striker Luka Majcen scoring twice and Vinit Rai adding a late penalty. Despite dominating the match, Punjab missed several opportunities, something their new Greek coach Panagiotis Dilmperis will need to address.

In their second game, they drew 1-1 with Kerala Blasters. Luka Majcen put Punjab FC ahead during injury time in the first half, but Kerala Blasters quickly equalized just 11 minutes into the second half.

Mumbai City began their campaign with a heavy 8-0 defeat to Kerala Blasters. Despite the lopsided scoreline, the young Mumbai team displayed impressive determination and resilience against more experienced opponents. Although the Blasters launched relentless attacks in the first 15 minutes, Mumbai City's all-Indian lineup showed commendable resolve.

Their troubles continued in the second match, where they lost 2-0 to the CISF Protectors XI. Coach Mohan Suresh Dass made five changes to the starting lineup, but the young Mumbai City players struggled to find their rhythm, spending much of the game defending deep in their half. While Mumbai improved towards the end of the first half, they were unable to challenge the CISF goalkeeper, who remained untested throughout the match.
