Guwahati, May 17 (UNI) Punjab and Goa won their ties in the group B matches of the Under-21 National Football tournament here today.
In the first match, Punjab defeated Services team by 1-0.
Lalhalntharamana scored the only goal of the match in the penultimate minute before the half time.
In the second match of the day, Goa got the better of Mizoram by 3-1.
Mizoram took the lead early in the match when V Vanlalgakha guided the ball to the goalpost after just 10 minutes into the match.
However, they failed to capitalise on the lead and Kevin Lobo came up with the equalizer for Goa in the 36th minute.
Staring 1-1 after halftime, Mizoram failed to regain its sheen, and conceded two more goals.
Joy Ferrao scored for Goa in 67th minute and Milagres Gonsalves again scored in the 79th minute.
Meanwhile, in a group A match tomorrow, defending champion West Bengal will take on Kerela. Asom and Delhi are the other two teams in the group with Asom winning the opening tie 2-0 against Delhi yesterday.
