Queens Park Rangers' manager, Marti Cifuentes, highlighted three pivotal moments that led to their 2-1 victory over Luton Town in the Championship on Friday. The Hatters initially took the lead in the 18th minute due to an own goal by Jimmy Dunne. However, QPR turned the game around in the second half.
Michael Frey played a crucial role, assisting Nicolas Madsen for the equaliser in the 59th minute and then scoring the winning goal just three minutes later with a remarkable first-time volley. This win marked QPR's first of the season after consecutive draws against Sheffield United and Plymouth Argyle. Meanwhile, Luton Town remains winless since their relegation to the second division.

Cifuentes expressed satisfaction with his team's resilience, emphasising the critical moments that secured their first three points. "There were three big moments in the game. Good start from our game, but then a goal and that changes the whole momentum," he told BBC Sport.
The manager acknowledged Luton's strength in set-pieces and physicality, which posed challenges for QPR. "We know they are very good on set-pieces. They are a big team, very physical," Cifuentes noted. He mentioned that his team struggled to break free from Luton's high press as they went man-to-man across the pitch.
QPR found it difficult to create connections until early in the second half when Paul Nardi made a crucial save to keep them in contention. "Definitely until the beginning of the second half we struggled; Paul [Nardi] keeps us in the game with a big save," Cifuentes said.
The turning point came when QPR scored to level the match, which was one of the three significant moments identified by Cifuentes. "So, then we scored for the draw, and that was the third moment in the game," he remarked. Following this equaliser, QPR maintained dominance until the final five minutes despite Luton's efforts.
Cifuentes praised his team's investment in finding opportunities even when they couldn't overcome Luton's high pressure initially. "When we couldn’t beat the high pressure, we invested to find the right moment and the first goal showed that," he explained.
This victory is a morale booster for QPR as they aim to build on this performance in upcoming matches. The team's ability to adapt and seize key moments will be crucial as they navigate through this season's challenges.
