Quadruple is still possible says Chelsea's Mourinho
LONDON, Mar 20 (Reuters) Chelsea could still make history by winning the quadruple, manager Jose Mourinho said after his team reached the FA Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
''It's still possible. We have a 25 percent chance to win the FA Cup, 12-1/2 percent to win the Champions League.
''To win the Premiership we need to win every game and we need Manchester United to lose four more points. It doesn't depend on us,'' he told reporters at White Hart Lane.
Chelsea already have the League Cup in their trophy cabinet and their Portuguese coach has not given up hope of collecting all the silverware on offer this season.
''We never played with our best team all season, never,'' he added. ''When we play with a team similar to our best team we show what we can do.
''Everything went against us in this league from the beginning -- injuries, decisions. The Manchester United game we want to play now we have to play later on.'' Chelsea must still host United at Stamford Bridge as they bid to close the six-point gap at the top of the Premier League, but the game is scheduled for the same weekend as the cup semi-finals in mid-April and will have to be postponed.
United are chasing a treble after their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough on Monday put them through to an FA Cup semi-final against Watford while Chelsea will face Blackburn Rovers with a dream Wembley final still on the cards.
''It's a brilliant season by the boys,'' said Mourinho. We've just got to win more trophies. I respect Blackburn. I know it's not an easy game. Blackburn have a dream too. They will fight for their dream.'' Mourinho was relieved to get through a difficult quarter-final against Spurs having watched his team trail 3-1 at halftime in the first game at Stamford Bridge.
''We controlled the game. We had very, very good possession of the ball especially in the last 20 minutes of the first half and for the whole of the second half.'' ''It was a game without great saves, without many chances. It's the kind of game you win in the details, you win with the goal. I had with me (on the bench Salomon) Kalou and (Arjen) Robben because I was waiting for the game to go to a draw and possibly extra time but Sheva's goal came and changed the game.
Striker Andriy Shevchenko struggled earlier in the season but scored a wonderful goal to put Chelsea in front and worked tirelessly before coming off towards the end of the match.
''For me the best thing was the way he was involved in the game,'' said Mourinho ''He kept possession and held the ball well.
He played very, very well for the whole team.'' Tottenham coach Martin Jol felt his side, who lost to Arsenal in the League Cup semi-finals, were hard done by but conceded that Chelsea's strong defence and well crafted goals by Shevchenko and Shaun Wright-Phillips made the difference.
''You can't say the best team has won but what can you say if you score a great goal like Shevchenko? That's what he's there for. And all credit to their defence That was the difference.'' REUTERS SAM SSC1429
