Rangers Boss Danny Rohl Maintains Future Amid Offseason Leadership Plans

Danny Rohl insists there is no uncertainty about staying as Rangers head coach next season, despite a second straight year without silverware and rising criticism from sections of the support following recent results in the Scottish Premiership and the 3-1 Old Firm defeat onSunday.

Rohl stressed that internal backing remains strong after talks with senior figures at Ibrox during the last two days, and underlined the need for a reset on the pitch, with Rangers expected to reshape the leadership group in the squad once the current campaign finishes.

Rangers boss Rohl vows future clarity

When asked directly about job security, Rohl highlighted the response from the hierarchy at a difficult time. Rohl said: "Yes. I think in the last 48 hours, there was unbelievable support from the board. Everyone around me sees a lot of positive things, but we are also critical of ourselves. I think there's no question mark."

The German coach confirmed that discussions with club officials have continued through the recent three-match losing run, which ended Rangers' title challenge and ensured a first team without a major trophy for two straight seasons, something that naturally sharpened scrutiny of performances and tactical decisions among supporters and commentators.

Attention now turns to rebuilding the dressing room structure, with long-serving captain James Tavernier set to depart after 11 years, three major trophies and leading Rangers in a Europa League final, a change that Rohl views as a turning point for how authority and responsibility are shared within the current Rangers squad.

Speaking about the next phase, Rohl said: "The most important thing is it is what I have said many times, we have to take all the information we need into the new season," before explaining the impact of Tavernier leaving. "I think you can imagine, with Tav, we will lose the captain and this is a big signal for us."

Rohl outlined what Rangers must replace once Tavernier leaves the club, pointing to dressing room standards and composure in pressure situations. Rohl said: "We need new leaders, more leaders for the dressing room, to set our standards that we want on the training pitch, in difficult moments in the game." "I think this is crucial. This is a great opportunity to work on this."

Rangers and Danny Rohl look beyond final league matches

Rangers still have two league fixtures to complete, with Hibernian visiting Ibrox on Wednesday before an away trip to Falkirk to close the season, and these matches give Rohl and the squad a final chance to show progress before pre-season planning begins in earnest.

Rohl explained that the need for change has become clearer during the recent downturn and said that discussions with the club have shaped next steps. Rohl said: "Yesterday, I had conversations again with the club and you can really trust me, I'm very clear, especially also after the last three weeks, what we need to be top, top, top."

Rohl’s stance, backed by the Rangers board, suggests continuity in the dugout while major on-field changes await, with the coaching staff now tasked with guiding the squad through Tavernier’s exit, building a new leadership core and using the final matches as a bridge into a decisive summer.
