Rangers Hungry For More, Says Danny Rohl After Seventh Straight Win

Rangers boss Danny Rohl called for sustained hunger after the 1-0 Europa League victory over Ludogorets gave Rangers a seventh successive win in all competitions. Diomande’s early goal secured the result, while the team maintained strong home form and momentum ahead of their upcoming league clash with Dundee FC.

Rangers extended their winning streak to seven matches as Danny Rohl’s team beat Ludogorets 1-0 in the Europa League at Ibrox. The Scottish Premiership side are already out of the competition, yet Rohl demanded more progress after the result, stressing that Rangers must keep their focus and hunger.

Mohammed Diomande scored the only goal on 33 minutes, securing a narrow victory over Ludogorets and lifting the atmosphere at Ibrox. The result ended a nine-game winless run in the Europa League for Rangers, a sequence that included two draws and seven defeats, and delivered Rohl’s first win in the tournament at the fifth attempt.

Rangers hungry for more after seventh win

The latest success continues Rangers’ impressive home performances in January across all competitions. Rangers have not lost a home game in that month since a 2-0 defeat to Celtic in January 2011, putting together a 35-match unbeaten January home run, with 31 victories and four draws during that extended sequence at Ibrox.

Domestically, Rangers remain in the Scottish Premiership title race despite the European exit. The club sit six points behind league leaders Hearts and now switch attention quickly to the next fixture against Dundee FC on 25 January 2026. Rohl’s message after Ludogorets was clear, with performance standards expected to stay high.

Rohl reflected on both the winning streak and areas still needing refinement. Rohl told TNT Sports: "Seven wins in a row is fantastic. We have to be hungry for more, especially looking forward to Sunday [against Dundee FC]. We have to be on the front foot again. We gave some moments to the opponent, which I don't like. In general there's been a lot of clean sheets since I've been here and that's a good feeling." Those clean sheets have provided a base for recent results under Rohl.

Rangers Europa League records and Mohammed Diomande impact

Diomande’s strike against Ludogorets was only the second Europa League goal for Rangers in 16 appearances for the midfielder, after first scoring against Nice in November 2024. Diomande’s European record for Rangers also includes three assists and two red cards, highlighting a statistical profile that stands out in the competition.

Since 2009-10, Diomande is one of just three players to record multiple goals, assists and red cards in the Europa League for a single club. The others are Ricardo Quaresma for Besiktas and Ibrahim Sangare for PSV, a group that underlines the unusual mix of contributions Diomande has produced in European matches.

Diomande discussed the goal and the team’s direction after the match. Diomande told TNT Sports: "It's been a while since I scored so there was emotion. We are in a good position now, we're going to go game by game. Hopefully on Sunday we get the three points." The midfielder’s comments matched Rohl’s focus on steady progress.

Rangers exit the Europa League with a first group win under Rohl and renewed belief from recent form. The seven-match winning run, strong January home record and consistent clean sheets provide encouragement as attention returns to the title race, with the Dundee FC fixture offering a quick test of that momentum.
