Barcelona's Raphinha empathised with Lamine Yamal's frustration after being substituted during their 2-2 Champions League draw against Atalanta. The result secured Barcelona's second-place finish in the 36-team league, granting them a bye through the play-off round. Despite leading twice, they were held back by Atalanta. Yamal, who scored the opening goal, was visibly upset when taken off in the second half.
Raphinha expressed understanding for Yamal's reaction, stating, "He's a spectacular player; it's understandable that he gets angry. I understand his anger at not finishing the game because it has happened to me many times." He praised Yamal's contribution, saying he was pleased with both his performance in the match and throughout the season.

The Brazilian winger acknowledged the disappointment of not securing a win but highlighted Atalanta's strong defence and opportunistic play. "We passed the first phase, we are happy, and now we have to put our heads in La Liga," he remarked. Raphinha noted that running one-on-one across the field can be tedious but necessary.
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick shared Raphinha's sentiments about finishing second in the league phase. He stated, "I'm happy with the second position in the league phase. I think it's a great success for the team." Flick acknowledged that while they could have performed better against Atalanta, overall satisfaction prevailed due to their qualification as runners-up.
Flick emphasised learning from this challenging match against Atalanta, particularly regarding defensive strategies. He noted that although they were pleased with their current standing, there is room for improvement. "We have the potential to do something more," Flick said, adding that an extra week of training would be beneficial.
Despite not clinching victory against Atalanta, Barcelona remains optimistic about their future matches. The team aims to refine their defensive tactics while maintaining focus on upcoming La Liga fixtures. Both players and coaching staff are committed to enhancing their performance as they progress further into the season.
