Alan Shearer suggests Marcus Rashford should have considered leaving Manchester United to revive his England career. Rashford had a remarkable start under Erik ten Hag, scoring 30 goals in all competitions during the Dutchman's first season in 2022-23. However, he struggled last season, netting only eight goals and providing six assists in 43 appearances.
This decline led to his exclusion from Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad. This season, Rashford has played in all four of United's matches but hasn't contributed to any goals. He has had no shots and created just three chances, failing to secure a spot in Lee Carsley's first Three Lions squad.

Shearer believes a change of club might have been what Rashford needed to regain his form. "In his current form, I don't see Marcus Rashford reviving his England career," Shearer told Betfair.
Shearer added that he doesn't know Rashford's mentality or training approach but emphasised the importance of having the right attitude and dedication. "I personally don't know his mentality, or what his approach is in terms of training, but there's only one way back, which is to train and have the right attitude," Shearer said.
The former England forward noted that Rashford has become static at Manchester United for some reason. "But looking from the outside, for me, he should have left Man United to reignite his career because he's gone very static for whatever reason, and it hasn't worked for him for a while now," Shearer stated.
Ultimately, Shearer believes it's up to Rashford to decide how much he wants to return to scoring 30 goals a season. "Only Marcus can answer how much he wants to get back to scoring 30 goals a season," Shearer concluded.
The insights from Shearer highlight the challenges Rashford faces and suggest that a fresh start might be necessary for him to regain his best form and re-establish himself in the England squad.
