Real Madrid enter Alisson race fearing failed De Gea, Courtois move

David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois were in line to replace Keylor Navas at the Bernabeu, but the deals are looking unlikely at he moment, hence Madrid switched focus to Alisson.

Brazil and Roma goalkeeper Alisson

Bengaluru, March 19: After being heavily linked with a summer move to Liverpool, AS Roma and Brazil's in-demand goalkeeper Alisson has now caught the eye of Real Madrid as well.

David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois were in line to replace Keylor Navas at the Bernabeu, but United’s disinterest in letting De Gea go and Courtois recently commiting his loyalty towards Chelsea, Madrid have now sought to Alisson as Navas’ first team replacement.

Alisson hasn’t been shy as well as the 25-year-old is keen on leaving AS Roma this summer. Alisson gave a clear indication he would be open to the prospect of leaving Rome this summer in interview in Portugal. He told Globoesporte: "Those links massage the ego, it cannot be denied.

"People get satisfaction when you are being recognised by any club.

"I am very happy to have this recognition, that says to me that I am doing my work well and they are noticing.

"I'm focused on things at Roma, but it is especially nice when we are talking about Real Madrid.

"And as I said, it does not affect what I have been doing on the field and in my income for Rome, because I am very focused on this moment.

"But I am happy, yes, for the recognition of all."

Failures by Lloris Karius and Simon Mignolet to rise up in big games has put Liverpool in pole position to grab the services of Alisson. Klopp had put Alisson and Jack Butland on top priority to sign this summer. But with Real Madrid’s latest interest, Anfield will see a stern competition from the Bernabeu.
