Real Madrid reach “agreement in principle” with Bayern’s Lewandowski

Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that Lewandowski’s new agent, Pini Zahavi , and Jose Sanchez , the right hand man of Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, have met and agreed personal terms.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski

Bengaluru, March 19: Real Madrid have potentially agreed to a deal in principle with Robert Lewandowski, according to reports from Spain. Whether Bayern Munich come to terms with the La Liga giants is still an ambiguity.

The Polish international’s representatives have held multiple meetings with Madrid, and agreed to sign a two-year deal.

Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that Lewandowski’s new agent, Pini Zahavi , and Jose Angel Sanchez , the right hand man of Real Madrid President Florentino Perez, have met and agreed to personal terms.

Real Madrid have shown long interest in Lewandowski, Neymar and Harry Kane to replace Karim Benzema in the forward line. Mundo Deportivo reports that neither PSG nor Spurs are willing to do business this summer, and thus a short-term deal for Lewandowski is the club's solution.

The report adds that Lewandowski has been on Madrid’s agenda for a long time. But despite having numerous meetings between his manager Cesary Kucharski and Madrid, no deal was striked. On the contrary, he renewed Lewandowski’s contract with Bayern until June 2021.

For that reason, Lewandowski decided to hire Zahavi, to take him to a team with aspirations and be able to sign his last big contract. Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United are also desperate to acquire the Poland goal scoring machine, but Lewandowski remains adamant on joining Los Blancos.

Robert Lewandowski has scored 23 goals this Bundesliga campaign with another five in the Champions League. He recently netted his landmark 100th goal for Bayern in the Bundesliga. The Bavarian giants are on course for yet another treble under Jupp Heynecks.
