Madrid, Oct 13: La Liga giants Real Madrid are all set to offer their star attacker Gareth Bale a new six-year contract which will keep him at the club until 2022, reports Spanish radio station Cadena Ser. [La Liga schedule of game week 8]

Gareth Bale was signed from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 for a then world record transfer fee of £86 million beating Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer record.

The new deal will reportedly see The 27-year-old's release clause set at €500 million. His new wage structure is yet to be finalised, though.

The Welsh international has started the new season on a high. He has scored 3 goals in six matches and provided 4 assists.

Speaking to Cadena Ser, former Real Madrid and Wales manager John Toshack hailed his fellow countryman as a great player and he believes Bale would win the prestigious Ballon d'Or sooner or later.

He was quoted: "I see a Real Madrid enjoying Bale at the top of his game for two or three years. I believe Bale will win the Ballon d'Or in his career.

"In a few years, he will become the leader [of Real Madrid].

"He was already a different player to the rest," the 67-year-old said. "Now he is very discreet and a great professional. He knows what he has to do and he is a complete player.

"You don't have to raise your hands or shout all the time to be a good leader. There are other ways to motivate your teammates. Gareth has earned the respect of his teammates at Wales."
