Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has been admitted to hospital amid the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, the club confirmed on Thursday (June 19).
Mbappe missed out Real Madrid's World Cup opener against Al Hilal due to a fever and now the Spanish giants has announced that the French striker is hospitalized.

"Our player Kylian Mbappé is suffering from an acute case of gastroenteritis and has been admitted to hospital in order to undergo a series of tests and follow the appropriate course of treatment," a statement from Real Madrid said.
Mbappe was low in energy for the match on Thursday and played no part in it. New coach Xabi Alonso didn't keep him in the squad as the Frenchman was struggling with his health. Although reported as fever, it seems that the former PSG player has a stomach issue, which has now led to his hospitalization.
Acute gastroenteritis, commonly referred to as stomach flu, is a sudden inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract that primarily affects the stomach and intestines. It is a widespread condition that can affect individuals of all ages and is particularly prevalent in areas with poor sanitation or limited access to clean water.
It typically lasts for a few days, but in some cases, it can extend up to 10 days. The condition is most often caused by infections - viral, bacterial, or parasitic, though non-infectious factors like food allergies or medications can also trigger it.
Real Madrid missed Mbappe in their last match in the Club World Cup as the Spanish giants could only draw against Saudi Arabia club Al Hilal. Gonzalo Garcia scored the goal for Real while Ruben Neves equalized for the Saudi club. There was a late penalty which was squandered by Federico Valverde as Real were held in their first match.
