Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti’s future at the club has been the subject of much speculation lately. The Italian manager exceeded all expectations by leading his team to a Champions League and La Liga double last year. In the ongoing campaign around, his side had also gotten off to a great start. However, as the season has progressed, injuries and fatigue have taken a toll on a side that has always lacked depth.

Real Madrid are nine points behind Barcelona in the title race and tension seems to have reached boiling point following their yet another draw against Real Betis in the last gameweek.

The Los Blancos also have lost the first leg semi-final against Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey and if they fail to recover that in the second tie, their only hope to secure silverware will depend upon their Champions League run.

Having a three-goal lead over Liverpool in the knockout game, the Spanish side are favorites to reach the next round. However, considering the tough competitions there is always a good chance of getting knocked out of such competitions. And if they end up going trophyless, it is possible that Ancelotti will be shown the exit door.

Keeping that in mind, the club are apparently seemingly on the lookout for a replacement and as per rumor mills these three are in Real Madrid's potential wishlist-

Mauricio Pochettino

According to reports, the Madrid administration sees Mauricio Pochettino, the former manager of Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint-Germain, as a leading contender to succeed Ancelotti. Pochettino is now without a club. His last stint was at PSG, where he failed to make the most of the combination of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar. During the Argentine's tenure in Paris, the French powerhouses won acclaim, but they eventually fell short of achieving their major objective, which is winning the Champions League. But that does not dismiss his former credibility at Spurs and Southampton. The Argentine manager is apparently a candidate for the position because President Perez is impressed with the way he laid the groundwork at Tottenham and since a potential reconstruction is clearly on the cards, he is viewed as a prime candidate.

Raul Gonzalez

If Ancelotti leaves, Florentino Perez may promote Raul Gonzalez as the senior team's manager in a similar manner to how he did with Zinedine Zidane. Raul has done a fantastic job at Castilla and his performance earlier attracted interest from some notable clubs. Leeds United was most recently linked with him. The Real Madrid icon, though, is apparently keen to demonstrate his abilities and has made no secret of his intention to grab the top position at his former club.

Zinedine Zidane

Surprisingly Zidane's name has also been doing rounds as Real Madrid's manager. In his two stints as the Los Blancos manager, he won two La Liga and three Champions which most of the coaches of the game only dream of. Since leaving Madrid in 2021, he has been without a job. But it is understood that he is now looking to make a comeback to the game. Juventus and PSG have been rumored as his potential destination but as per some reports, Madrid are also keeping a close eye.
