Real Madrid suffered a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in their latest UEFA Champions League group stage match on Wednesday (November 28).
The Spanish giants were slayed at the hands of the Reds at Anfield, which means they are stuck at 6 points after five group-stage matches.

Following their defeat to Liverpool, Real Madrid's path to the knockout stages has become challenging. In the expanded Champions League format, where 36 teams compete in a single league table, Madrid is currently outside the top eight, which guarantees direct qualification to the Round of 16. They must secure a position in the top 24 to at least qualify for the playoff round.
To guarantee a playoff spot, Real Madrid needs around 10-12 points by the end of their eight league-stage matches. A direct progression to the Round of 16 will require around 15 to 16 points.
If Madrid finishes between 9th and 24th, they will enter a two-legged playoff to secure a place in the knockouts. Winning their remaining games is pivotal to avoiding a precarious situation and maintaining hopes of advancing further.
Madrid will face competitive fixtures, and results against other playoff-contending teams are critical. Dropped points could leave them relying on other teams' outcomes to progress.
Real Madrid will be away at Atalanta next, while their final two matches are a home encounter against Salzburg and then a visit to France to face Stade Brest.
Real Madrid will have to win at least their next two matches to have a guaranteed opportunity at the knockouts. If they managed 12 points at the end of group stages, the Spanish giants may edge through to the knockouts via play-offs. Real Madrid may need victories in their last three matches to progress to the Round of 16 directly.
Three Wins: Real Madrid can definitely get a place within the first eight teams if they win all three matches.
Two Wins: If Real Madrid find two victories out of their last three matches, they can find a place in the playoffs.
One Win: If Real Madrid win only one out of the last three matches, they need to get at least a couple of draws to find a place in the top 24 spots.
