A high-voltage El Clasico will take place in midweek when Real Madrid host Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semifinal first leg.

The two Spanish powerhouses have already faced off against each other twice this season, with Real easily triumphing over the Spanish rivals on home soil in La Liga back in October before Barcelona got revenge in the Spanish Super Cup final, beating them 3-1.

Now, they will face off in a two-legged Copa del Rey semifinal match, with Carlo Ancelotti's team having the benefit of playing at the Bernabeu Stadium in the first leg.

Real Madrid have reached this stage with some hard-fought battles in two previous rounds. They came from two goals down away at Villarreal in their round of 16 before winning in the extra time in the next game to beat their city rivals Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.

Barcelona on the other hand have experienced a comparatively easy route, beating lower league side Ceuta and then edging out Real Sociedad by a solitary goal.

However, both sides are coming into the tie with different forms. Barcelona are coming into this match off the back of a shock defeat to Almeria, before getting knocked out at the hands of Manchester United in the Europa League.

Real Madrid's confidence however will be sky-high after defeating Liverpool 5-2 in the Champions League and snatching a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid.
