In the much anticipated Copa del Rey Final between Real Madrid and Barcelona today (Saturday, April 26), Real Madrid have not started their star striker Kylian Mbappe.
The French striker was roped in the summer and there are huge things expected of him. Although Real Madrid are second fiddle in almost all competitions this season, Mbappe has still maintained his prolific touch across all competitions.

The 26-year-old has so far netted 33 goals this season across all competitions, 22 of them coming in LaLiga, and 7 of them in the Champions League. In Copa del Rey, Mbappe has played three matches and netted once.
Amid this, Mbappe not starting the match is a big blow for Los Blancos. Although he was injured in the Champions League match against Arsenal, Mbappe's return to fitness meant he will probably start in a high voltage encounter. But Carlo Ancelotti has decided to keep him out.
This decision stems from a mild right ankle sprain he sustained during the Champions League quarterfinal against Arsenal. Although Mbappé returned to training earlier this week, his recovery has not reached full completion, with reports indicating he is operating at approximately 60% of his optimal physical condition.
Carlo Ancelotti has not taken any risk on his star striker. Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo lead the attack for Real Madrid. Also, the Frenchman has been out of goal for some time now. His last goal came on March 30 against Leganes and he has so far failed to score in five consecutive matches.
Mbappe's presence on the bench suggests that Ancelotti may consider introducing him in the second half, should the match's circumstances necessitate his involvement.
