Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund: Courtois or Kepa? Ex-India striker Robin Singh gives Verdict for UCL Final

Former India striker Robin Singh has given his verdict on Real Madrid's goalkeeping conundrum ahead of the UEFA Champions League final.

Real Madrid will be up against Borussia Dortmund in the Final of the UCL on Saturday. But ahead of that, their main goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is set to miss out on the crucial clash.

Lunin, who was excellent for Los Blancos this entire season, has been hit by a viral flu and has missed the trip to London for the final. With Lunin's unavailability, Carlo Ancelotti will have to depend on his bench, which has two world-class keepers.

Belgium international and former UCL winner Thibaut Courtois is there, so is former Chelsea custodian Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Former India striker Robin Singh is gutted about Andriy Lunin missing out as the youngster has been a revelation for the Spanish team this season.

"The fact that Lunin has caught a virus is disappointing. I'm totally gutted for him because truth be told, Madrid are where they are because of the performance of Andre Lunin throughout the course of the tournament. So, I'm absolutely gutted that he will not be able to be present for the final," Singh said during a media interaction hosted by Sony Sports on Thursday.

When asked about who should Carlo Ancelotti pick as the starter, the former India striker has no doubt in mind that Courtois has to start. He also confirmed the fact that every Real Madrid player knows the competition in the squad and it will be a massive moment for anyone who starts the UCL final.

"If Lunin is not there, Courtois has to start. His pedigree and he's also won the Champions League, two clean sheets out of four games, that's commendable. So, he's coming back to good form at the moment.

Madrid as a team, whoever is in the first XI, they are so well aware of what the other person or what their teammate brings to the table. So, everybody at the moment is in great competition to start games. So, it's a great opportunity for whoever starts," he said.

The Belgian had a recent setback after being left out of the national team squad for Euro 2024. Hence if an opportunity arrives, he will be more than ready to perform at the biggest stage.
