Real Madrid is set to face Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday (April 1) for the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final. With a narrow 1-0 advantage from the first leg in San Sebastian, Los Blancos are determined to secure their place in the final.
Clinching this title would mark a significant achievement for manager Carlo Ancelotti, as he would become the first coach in Real Madrid’s history to win the Copa del Rey three times. The Italian tactician emphasized the significance of reaching the final, highlighting the motivation it provides to him, the players, and the entire club.

Real Madrid heads into this clash as the strong favourite, boasting an impressive home record and superior squad depth. Nonetheless, Sociedad remains a formidable opponent, especially with its high-intensity pressing system. However, the absence of several key players due to injuries could pose a challenge for Los Blancos. Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy, and Dani Ceballos remain sidelined, while Eder Militao, despite resuming training, is still unavailable. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who missed the previous match, is expected to be available, though Andriy Lunin may still start. To add to these concerns, star forward Kylian Mbappe is not starting the match.
Kylian Mbappe is on the bench for today's Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Sociedad due to persistent discomfort following a recent dental procedure. The forward underwent a tooth extraction earlier this week, prompting his exclusion from the starting lineup to ensure a full recovery. As a result, 18-year-old Brazilian forward Endrick has been included in the starting lineup in his place.
Initially, Ancelotti was hopeful that Mbappe would travel and take part in the match against Real Sociedad, but ultimately, he opted to grant the 26-year-old additional rest to allow him to fully recover. Consequently, Real Madrid travelled to San Sebastián without their top scorer. He is likely to come off the bench if needed.
Mbappe was also absent in the quarterfinal clash against Leganes due to a calf issue. Once again, the responsibility of leading the attack in Spain’s oldest competition will fall on Vinicius Junior and Endrick.
