Punjab FC emerged victorious in the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL) 2023-24, overcoming East Bengal FC with a thrilling 3-2 win in the final.

Punjab clinched the victory at the Reliance Park in Mumbai, marking a historic unbeaten journey through the tournament. With 14 wins and two draws, Punjab FC showcased their dominance across all stages - Regional Qualifiers, National Group Stage, and the National Championship.

The final was a nail-biting affair with both teams putting up a strong fight. The first half ended with both teams locked at one goal each. However, the game intensified in the second half, with East Bengal FC initially taking the lead. Punjab FC, not deterred, made a spectacular comeback with two goals to secure the championship. Harmanpreet Singh, coming off the bench, scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute, sealing the victory for Punjab FC.

Omang Dodum opened the scoring for Punjab FC with a smart finish in the 10th minute. East Bengal FC responded with Guite Vanlalpeka equalizing before halftime. The second half saw Joseph Justin putting East Bengal FC ahead, only for Punjab FC's strategic substitutions to turn the game around. Yendrembam Boby Singh and Harmanpreet Singh, both substitutes, scored to clinch the title for their team.

Coach Sankarlal Chakraborty praised his team's effort and highlighted the role of strategic substitutions in the final. He also commended the youth setup and infrastructure of Punjab FC, labeling it as one of the finest in Indian football.
