Rio de Janeiro, Aug 18: Brazil advanced to the final of Rio Olympics 2016 men's football after thrashing Honduras 6-0 in a semi-final game on Wednesday (August 18).
Neymar, Gabriel Jesus scored a brace and Marquinhos and Luan Garcia scored a goal each to seal the comprehensive win for the Samba boys over Honduras. The Brazilians take on Germany in the final on Saturday (August 20).
Brazil's golden boy and captain Neymar scripted history on Wednesday as he guided his national side to the finals.
Neymar scored the fastest goal in Olympic history in just 15 seconds of the match. The goal came due to Neymar's poaching abilities infront of the goal.
An Honduras defender failed to clear the ball as the Barcelona star pounced on it and netted the goal. He also scored the final goal in the 90th minute of the match from the penalty sport thereby hammering the last nail in Honduras' coffin.
Youngster Gabriel Jesus who recently joined English Premier League giants Manchester City netted two brilliant as PSG defender Marquinho and youngster Luan Garcia scored the other two goals.
About Neymar's fastest goal, Brazil coach Rogerio Micale said: "Scoring a goal that early was spectacular for us. It helped us break the game open and it made everything easier."
In the other semi-final, Germany defeated defending champions Nigeria 2-0 to qualify for the final. It will be a re-match of the FIFA World Cup 2014 semi-final where the eventual world champions Germany thrashed hosts Brazil 7-1.
The Brazilians will be eyeing a revenge and claim their maiden Olympic gold medal this time in their own country.
