Rising Star Mohammed Kaif Signs Five-Year Deal with ISL Side Hyderabad FC

By MyKhel Staff

Mohammed Kaif, a 16-year-old defender nurtured by Hindustan Zinc's Zinc Football Academy, has signed a five-year deal with Hyderabad FC, the 2021 Indian Super League champions. Hailing from Makrana, Rajasthan, Kaif's rise marks a major milestone for football in the state.

Born to Mohammed Sayeed, a former Santosh Trophy player, Kaif is regarded as one of India's most promising young footballers. Kaif made history as the first player from Rajasthan in over four decades to don the Indian jersey, excelling in international competitions throughout 2023 and 2024.

His accomplishments include winning two SAFF Cup titles and representing India in the AFC Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers. Currently, he is part of the India Under-20 training camp, gearing up for the Under-20 SAFF Cup in May 2025.

Kaif's journey began in 2018 when he was scouted for the Zinc Football Academy, an AIFF 3-star-rated institution. Under expert guidance, he developed into a standout talent, particularly excelling in the AIFF Under-17 Youth League last season.

His exceptional performances caught the attention of national scouts, solidifying his reputation as a rising star. Drawing inspiration from Spanish football icon Sergio Ramos, Kaif aspires to lead a generation of rural and tribal talents to football success.

Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, expressed pride in Kaif's achievements, stating, "Kaif's transfer to Hyderabad FC showcases his immense potential and motivates us to continue nurturing talent from Rajasthan. His success, along with Sahil Poonia's move to Bengaluru FC, highlights our commitment to grassroots development."

Dhruv Sood, CEO of Hyderabad FC, welcomed Kaif, noting, "We are thrilled to have Kaif join us. His leadership in the India Under-17 team has been remarkable. At HFC, we aim to nurture young players and provide them with opportunities to grow. Kaif's potential makes him a valuable addition to our team." This is the second major transfer from Zinc Football Academy.

The previous was Sahil Poonia's move to Bengaluru FC in 2022. The Academy has consistently contributed to Indian football, with talents like Prem Hansdak, Ashish Mayla, and Sahil Poonia representing India on the global stage. Supported by Hindustan Zinc and The Football Link, the Academy continues to elevate Rajasthan and Indian football from the grassroots.
