Robin Singh wants to make India comeback

Robin Singh stated that he is looking forward to showing his worth in the ongoing Indian Super League tournament for two times Champion ATK and he wants to pave his way back into the national team.

Robin Singh is yet to appear in this season's AFC Asian Cup campaign in the Blue jersey.

Bengaluru, November 23: Indian forward Robin Singh stated that he is looking forward to showing his worth in the ongoing Indian Super League tournament for two times Champion ATK and he wants to pave his way back into the national side through the competition.

Robin is currently out of favour of Stephen Constantine's plan as he is yet to appear in this season's AFC Asian Cup campaign in the Blue jersey. However, he suggested that he hopes to work harder to be back in the national team with the hope of regaining the place in the playing eleven of the Indian team.

"I don't know what's in the mind of the coach (Stephen Constantine). This gives me another opportunity to work harder. I'm proud to play for my country, have been playing for a long time," Robin told reporters at a media interaction in Kolkata on Wednesday (November 22).

"Hopefully if I work harder, I'll be back in the national team. I want to be back. Representing my country is the highest honour as a professional player. You want to represent your country. It's about keeping my head down and keep digging in, let my critics decide on how have I played," he added.

Unlike the last three years, this season ISL and I-League would run simultaneously at the same time with the latter getting a start from Saturday.

There has been dim cloud surfacing that conducting two tournaments parallelly will bring down the crowd in the stadium. Robin, who won the I League with Bengaluru FC and pled his trade in two stints with Kolkata giants East Bengal, however, claimed that both the tournaments will get their preferable audience as it's the love for the game that will draw people.

"You watch the Champions League, English Premier League and so on and like that you watch the I-League. I am not taking away anything from the I-League. I will certainly go watch the I-League. My friends play in that league, I would like to go and support them, who have had my back always," said Robin.

Robin, this season will don the jersey of another Kolkata club ATK. However, the 27-year-old claimed that although he misses East Bengal, the chapter is closed now and he is only looking forward to playing for ATK.

"Yes. I have been a part of East Bengal; that was the club that gave me the opportunity to be a professional footballer and I have great memories. Even six months back, I was with East Bengal; it will always be a special place. But it is done now."

ATK who drew their first game against Kerala Blasters will take on FC Pune City in their first home tie on YBK stadium on Saturday.
