Robin van Persie has been appointed as the new head coach of Feyenoord. The 41-year-old departed Heerenveen to take on this role after both clubs reached an agreement. His contract extends until 2027, and he will be supported by Rene Hake, who was previously part of Erik ten Hag's coaching team at Manchester United earlier this season.
Van Persie's connection with Feyenoord is well-known, having played for the club in two separate stints. During his time as a player, he scored 46 goals in 122 matches. He also served as an assistant coach under Dick Advocaat and worked with the youth teams before moving to manage Heerenveen in May 2024.

Feyenoord recently dismissed Brian Priske following a disappointing run of just one win in six league games. Currently, they are third in the Eredivisie, trailing leaders Ajax by 11 points, despite having played one more game. The team has also advanced to the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in their history.
Their progression to this stage came after defeating AC Milan 2-1 on aggregate in the playoff round. Next month, Feyenoord will face Inter in a two-legged tie as they continue their European campaign.
"Everyone knows how special my bond with Feyenoord is," Van Persie expressed on the club's website. "I am enormously looking forward, together with a strong staff, to working with the player group at 1908 and then in De Kuip, supported by the Legion, playing matches and achieving successes together."
This appointment marks a significant moment for Van Persie as he returns to a club where he began and ended his playing career. His leadership is expected to bring new energy and direction to Feyenoord as they aim for success both domestically and in Europe.
