Tottenham Hotspur's Rodrigo Bentancur was alert and under medical supervision in a hospital after sustaining an unusual injury during the League Cup semi-final first-leg win against Liverpool on Wednesday.
The Uruguayan midfielder attempted to connect with a corner but seemed to land awkwardly, causing him visible discomfort. After receiving nearly 10 minutes of on-field medical attention, he was carried off on a stretcher.

When questioned about the incident, manager Ange Postecoglou refrained from making assumptions. "I'm not sure what exactly happened," he admitted to reporters. "What I can confirm is that he was conscious as he left the pitch. It appears to be a head injury, but we're still awaiting details."
He continued, "Rodrigo has been transported to the hospital for further evaluation. I can't provide specifics on the incident because I lack medical expertise, and it wouldn't be fair to speculate. All we know is that it's related to his head, and the players' reactions showed it was serious."
Bentancur had only recently returned to action after serving a suspension for seven domestic matches. The ban followed inappropriate comments he made about Tottenham captain Son Heung-min during a television interview in Uruguay.
After the match, Rodrigo posted a picture on his Insta story that he is doing well and has thanked everyone for the messages.
'All good guys! Thank you for the messages!!! Congratulations for the victory boys !!!', he posted the picture with this caption.
Speaking of the match, Lucas Bergvall's 86th minute winner gave the Spurs a huge 1-0 lead going into the second leg.
