Romelu Lukaku Returns To Belgium's Nations League Squad Ahead Of Key Matches

Romelu Lukaku has been recalled to Belgium's squad for crucial Nations League matches against Italy and Israel. His leadership and recent form with Napoli are seen as vital for the team's success.

Romelu Lukaku has been brought back into Belgium's 23-man squad for their upcoming Nations League matches against Italy and Israel. Lukaku, who holds the record as Belgium's top scorer with 85 goals in 119 games, was not included in the initial four matches of the competition. Since their 3-1 victory over Israel in Group A2's opening game, Domenico Tedesco's team has struggled, failing to win any of their last three matches and currently sitting third in the standings.

To advance to the Nations League quarter-finals, Belgium needs two wins and sees Napoli's Lukaku as crucial to achieving this. "He is one of the best strikers in world football," Tedesco stated. "He doesn't have to prove anything to anybody anymore." Tedesco also highlighted Lukaku's leadership qualities and his ability to mentor younger players. Lukaku has been performing well for Serie A leaders Napoli, with eight goal contributions (four goals and four assists) in nine league appearances this season.

However, Ameen Al-Dakhil returns alongside Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia. Club Brugge’s young left-back Joaquin Seys has received his first senior call-up.
