Liverpool, August 11: Everton manager Ronald Koeman seems to have changed his stance on outcast midfielder and Tottenham Hotspur target Ross Barkley as he asserted the England international could remain at the club as there were no offers on the table for the midfielder.
Barkley has just a year left on his contract at Goodison Park and has been reportedly close to leaving for months now with the player and club in a contract turmoil.
Koeman also a month ago said Everton "100%" anticipated that the England worldwide would leave the club this Summer but the Toffees manager now seems to have changed his opinion.
"There is no offer on the table for Ross -- that means he will stay at Everton," Koeman told a news conference. "The player has one year [left on his] contract and there is no offer. Maybe the club will not accept the offer [if and when it comes] because he is a good, young, English player.
"If somebody wants to buy Ross it's a big deal. If there is no interest then he will stay and be part of the team.
"I respect every personal ambition of every player. Still he is training with Everton, he is part of the team and training in a good way."
However, the Dutch boss also warned Barkley's potential suitors including Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea that, however, no offers have been made yet, but the club won't acknowledge any lower fee for the England international towards the end of the transfer window.
Everton demanded around £50 million for Barkley at the start however now the Merseyside club have lowered down the fees to £25 million and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be the front-runners for his signature.
Barkley is currently injured after he had surgery on a minor groin problem during the pre season and will be out till possibly the next month and meantime will be hopeful that his next destination is finalised.
